From March 18 to 20, 2025, Doroteja Mauko, a representative of the Maribor Tourist Board, participated in the Benelux Roadshow organized by the Slovenian Tourist Board. The events took place in Antwerp and Amsterdam, where representatives of the Slovenian tourism sector met with numerous tour operators and travel agents from Belgium and the Netherlands.
Slovenia was presented as a green, active, and healthy destination offering diverse leisure experiences. The Maribor Tourist Board highlighted the city's rich offer, combining cultural heritage, active nature holidays, and top-tier gastronomy.
In Antwerp, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Belgium, Barbara Sušnik, welcomed the attendees, while in Amsterdam, the Slovenian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Jožef Drofenik, addressed the participants. Both emphasized the importance of tourism cooperation between Slovenia and the Benelux countries.
Travel agents were especially interested in active nature-based holidays such as hiking, cycling, and rafting, and were impressed by Maribor's diversity. Many had already visited the city and expressed a desire to reintroduce organized trips.
"We are pleased to have had the opportunity to present Maribor as an attractive tourist destination in such an important market as the Benelux. The agents’ response was extremely positive, which gives us great optimism for future cooperation," said the Maribor Tourist Board representative.
Participation in the Roadshow Benelux was an excellent opportunity to strengthen Maribor’s visibility as a tourist destination and to establish new business connections.
