The World's Oldest Noble Vine
In the historic city center of Lent, in front of the Old Vine House, stands a more than 450-year-old Žametovka or Modra Kavčina. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as the oldest vine in the world still bearing noble fruit, it remains a symbol of Maribor's rich winemaking tradition.
Its offspring grow on almost every continent and in numerous locations across Slovenia. In honor of the Old Vine, Maribor and its surroundings boast many scenic wine routes and renowned wine cellars.
