A city, where we feel at home
Maribor is contagiously relaxed. Maybe it is because it has changed its identity and population so many times, always being multicultural.
The city center is closed to traffic and preserves the thriving energy of centuries ago when raftsmen, artisans, and merchants bustled about. Today, the city center is co-created by walkers, restaurateurs, producers, and creatives. The world's oldest vine has seen it all in its nearly 500 years.
After the war, Maribor became a city of industrial experimentation. The harshness of its 20th-century heritage defies the postcard-perfect images of a bourgeois city, but it is precisely this that gives the city its special character. Maribor equally welcomes gala attire and sports jerseys, work clothes, and daring costumes.
