Maribor Day: Two guided tours around the city

You are invited to guided tours of the city's history.

As part of Maribor Day, we invite you to two guided tours that will unveil the city's rich historical and cultural heritage.

The first tour will take you back to medieval Maribor, a time when the city was first mentioned in written records, while the second tour will explore the architectural heritage of the military, focusing on former barracks and warehouses.

Both tours are led by experts in history and cultural heritage, ensuring a deep and fascinating exploration of the city's past that you are sure to enjoy.

Guided tour "Medieval Maribor" at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Walking tour of Maribor within the former city walls, dedicated to the Middle Ages, the period when Maribor was first mentioned in a document on October 20, 1164.

The tour will be conducted in collaboration with several institutions: the Regional Museum Maribor, Narodni dom Maribor – Vetrinjski dvor, the Maribor Cathedral Parish, the Maribor Synagogue, the Regional Archive Maribor, and the Maribor Puppet Theatre. The tour will be led by Boris Hajdinjak from the Maribor Synagogue.

Meeting point: Jurčič Monument, Trg Generala Maistra.

Tour ends: Maribor Puppet Theatre.

The tour will last approximately three hours. Maximum of 20 participants per tour.

16:00 Architectural Heritage of the Military in Maribor

Guided tour of the area of the former barracks between the railway and Ulica Pariške komune, with a special focus on the former supply warehouses, now known as Pekarna.

The tour will be led by Dean Damjanović from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, Maribor.

Meeting point: In front of Hostel Pekarna, Ob železnici 16, Maribor.
