Faust

Co-production with Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana,
In collaboration with Opernhaus Zürich.

As has often been shown in the rich flow of theater history, adaptations of literary classics have proven to be of varying success – from complete fiascos, faithful reinterpretations, to flawless spectacles that function entirely autonomously within their own medium. The same is true for Goethe’s philosophical drama or tragedy Faust, which, despite a large number of musical productions, still remains a great challenge in the domain of dance art.

Edward Clug brings a unique interpretation and vision of this work in his dance manifestation, which not only combines the musical mysticism of Milko Lazar with unusual athletic energy and his own poetic movement language, but also, by combining all three elements, creates a spectacle that can, with irony and parody, reveal the numerous dissonances and paradoxes of human existence.
