Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy

Festival Lent 2025: Alogte Oho and His Sounds of Joy at the LGM Auditorium

Unstoppable Sounds of Dance and Positivity

DJ and producer Gilles Peterson described the performance of Alogte Oho and His Sounds of Joy at the World Wide Festival as the best moment of the festival in all its 16 years. This Ghanaian band, playing music from the Frafra people, is characterized by a retro-futuristic sound without electric and bass guitars, but with two keyboardists, strong brass arrangements, and three vocalists. Their energetic music, filled with positive emotions, combines highlife, afrobeat, reggae, and gospel, often transforming into a true dance ecstasy on stage.

The group was discovered and produced by Max Weissenfeldt, known for his work with The Poets of Rhythm and The Black Keys. Alogte Oho says: "Just as the Messiah died for our sins, I want our music to bring the audience all the joy it can give. Here they are: The Sounds of Joy!"

So bring your dancing shoes and get ready for a fresh and warm experience in yet another traditionally lively African evening at JazzLent!
