Alica: nekaj solilogov o neznosnosti časa

60. Festival Borštnikovo srečanje: Alice; Some Soliloquies on the Unbearableness of Time at the Ondina Otta Klasinc Hall

Wonderland

Alice’s dizzying fall down the rabbit hole and her long descent into the depths does not happen by chance – it is triggered by her experience of the outside world, saturated with order, rules, pressure, and rigid expectations. The world around her is stifling in its predictability and suffocating in its structure. Wonderland doesn’t just offer her an escape, but an entirely new perspective – a space where thought can wander, where absurdity replaces order, and where what was once unacceptable becomes possible.

The leap into the rabbit hole is thus more than a fantasy adventure – it is an act of defiance against rigidity, a step into the unknown, a plunge into a world that is both thrilling and perilous. Although Wonderland initially seems free and playful, it proves to be a place that demands courage, confrontation with inner fears, and acceptance of one’s own disorientation. Yet it is precisely within this radical disorientation that a possibility opens – the chance to see the world we've left behind from the other side, and to ask: what now, if anything at all?

The performance Alice: Some Soliloquies on the Unbearableness of Time explores Wonderland as a symbolic zone of transition – perhaps even of death. But not in a mystical or distant sense, rather through a series of concrete, deeply human sensations – familiar, lived, endured. The creators do not portray them as fiction, but as reality – one that each of them carries within.
