Cradle of the contemporary wine-making
University of Maribor, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences – Meranovo
Meranovo is the cradle of the contemporary wine-making in the Štajerska region. It was in 1822 the Archduke John of Austria planted the noble varieties of vine in this renowned land, following the technique used in the Rhineland. The tradition is continued with the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Maribor.
