Untouched old-growth forest extends over an area of 19 hectares beside the Lobnica stream (on the steep slope above the stream's right bank), a hidden sanctuary for beech, spruce and fir treesand a home to many rare plants. The route does not present difficulties of orientation, since it simply follows the bottom of the valley carved out over the course of millions of years by the Lobnica and further shaped by ice ages and meteorological phenomena. The Lobnica log flume – the longest in Slovenia – once ran along the entire length of the path. This flume, which was used to transport timber, was in use from 1838 to 1959. Its total length, including all its branches, was 17 kilometres. Ourt path leads you to the point from which you can enjoy the most famous view of the Veliki Šumik waterfall, one of Slovenia's most powerful waterfalls and, a little further on,to Mali Šumik. The path between Veliki (Great) and Mali (Little) Šumik is rated as very difficult.
