The centerpiece of this revitalized space is a trio of unique art benches, meticulously crafted by landscape architect Tina Kuhar. These benches, aptly named "Mali beli gaj" (Small White Grove), stand in harmonious unity, echoing the profound bond that unites individuals during their journeys through illness.
Before this transformation, the area surrounding the Oncology Department was an underutilized courtyard, yearning for revitalization. Tina Kuhar's vision breathed new life into this space, transforming it into a verdant haven where nature intertwines seamlessly with art.
Kuhar, a graduate of the Biotechnical Faculty at the University of Ljubljana, further enriched her expertise at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Alnarp, specializing in landscape architecture. Her passion for her craft extends beyond the Small White Grove, as she is also the co-founder and co-owner of Dandelion, a landscape design firm, and the creator of numerous private and commercial landscaping projects across Slovenia.
The Small White Grove art benches were unveiled on June 17, 2020, marking a significant milestone in transforming this once-neglected space. The benches are not merely aesthetic elements; they are a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and the profound connection between patients, their loved ones, and the dedicated healthcare professionals who support them.
