Bench no. 12: Bench

Reflection of emptiness: The bench with expressionless masks invites contemplation

The unique artistic bench named "Bench" consists of a set of three masks, also symbolizing puppet theater, on the courtyard of which the sculpture, made of 30,000 metal oval plates, is placed.

The artist, with the expressionless faces of the masks, conveys that anonymity in society leads to insincere and artificial relationships, which are a reflection of consumer-oriented society and imposed media reality.

The author of the bench is academic sculptor Primož Pugelj. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (ALU) at the University of Ljubljana and completed postgraduate studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the USA. In 2002, he obtained his master's degree from ALU at the University of Ljubljana. His sculptures adorn numerous public spaces and private collections.
