A journey through the life and music of a Slovenian legend

In the heart of Jarenina, housed within the beautifully restored building of the former Jarenina Elementary School, now appropriately named Štajerska hiša glasbe (Styrian House of Music), stands the Alfi Nipič Museum.

The centerpiece of the museum is the permanent exhibition "Ostal bom muzikant" (I Will Remain a Musician). This captivating narrative chronicles the remarkable career of Alfi Nipič, from his humble beginnings as a budding musician to his meteoric rise as a star of Slovenian folk and pop music.

Visitors embark on a journey through Nipič's life and music. They are transported back to the golden age of Slovenian music, reliving his triumphs on the popular music show "Popevka vesele jeseni" (Merry Autumn Song Festival), his unforgettable performance of the iconic song "Silvestrski poljub" (New Year's Kiss), and his successful collaboration with the legendary Avsenik Brothers Ensemble.

The exhibition delves deeper than just Nipič's stage presence. It showcases his extensive international tours, the numerous awards and accolades that adorn his career, and the special place he holds in the hearts of Slovenians as a beloved icon and honorary citizen of the Municipality of Pesnica.

A richly textured museum experience awaits visitors. The exhibition incorporates a diverse array of exhibits, including photographs, posters, audio and video recordings, newspaper articles, books, and personal artifacts. These artifacts include gold records, medals, awards, plaques, and traditional attire. Atop the museum, a multipurpose hall in the attic serves as a vibrant stage for musical performances. Performances encompass not only folk music, but also other genres, ensuring that Nipič's musical legacy continues to resonate through live music and cultural events.

The establishment of the permanent exhibition benefited from the expert guidance of the Maribor Museum of National Liberation. This partnership underscores the importance of preserving Nipič's legacy as a significant part of Slovenian cultural history.

The Alfi Nipič Museum serves as a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and a celebration of Slovenian musical heritage. The museum invites visitors to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Slovenian music and to discover the enduring power of melodies that have captivated generations.
